The ACLU has one mission and one mission only -- to defend the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. It may not always choose the best examples, but the goals are always the same. To preseve the Constitutional protections set forth by the Framers.
Many people believe that defending the Constitution is un-American.
Many people beieve that the Constitution should be sacrificed, or at least ignored, when it gets in the way of what they think is important.
Personally, I think that anyone who is willing to ignore the Constitution to suit their own agenda has foresaken the values that this country was founded upon. And any organization -- like the ACLU -- that defends the Constitution in court, especially when doing so is unpopular, should be respected for preserving the American values that this country supposedly holds dear.

I say that the ACLU is more Pro American then you are. The ACLU defends and protects the constitution against people such as you. People that think god only blesses the Americans, and only speech that people as yourself like to hear should be allowed. The ACLU protects individuals from mobs of morons like yourself. The Constitution protects our individual freedoms. Our Great country is a Constitutional Republic. It is not a democracy. We tend to call it a democracy, because the word means rule by the people of Greek origin. We have all seen what happens in country's where one person stirs his people enough to lynch others that might disagree. True democracy means the mob rules. This is why our creators and signers of the Constitution came up with such a document. One that is copied and respected all around the world.
Some of our present leaders are making a mockery and a abusing our constitution. The last time I read it (doubt if you ever did) I did not read any lines that said "all Americans are created equal, all others must suffer" THESE TRUTHS ARE SELF EVIDENT, THAT ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL. OUR first pledge to the flag was written "UNDER GAURD, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL" Check your history unless you were one of those children that was left behind, and can not read or comprehend what you read. In god we trust was not put in by the founders. This was put in after the big one to scare the Russians.
You should check the history of this great country before you talk like a paper bag of things you know nothing of.
The phrase under guard ment that all peoples rights would be guarded. Not just those who believed in your god. It is everyones AMERICA. The peoples AMERICA not gods. Thank you very little.
and no I'm not going back to where I came from. because my mother is dead.

You certainly have that correct -- the ACLU was founded by Roger Baldwin, an avowed Communist. The name, American Civil Liberties Union, is extremely misleading. Sounds great, but they use our constitutional freedoms against us. They are NOT for protecting the freedoms of Americans -- and if you've followed any of their cases, they are for freedom of speech and expression ONLY when it agrees with THEIR beliefs. They are trying to rewrite the history of this great country by erasing any mention of God or the Bible or the Ten Commandments in the history books and in reality, and sadly, with the help of our failing public schools, they are succeeding a little at a time. Thank God (oops, shouldn't have said that -- ACLU might be listening) we have the ACLJ -- American Center for Law and Justice -- to conteract all the damage inflicted upon our society by the radical ACLU. To sum it up: The ACLU is vehemently anti-Christian and anti-American traditional values -- no one who follows the hundreds and hundreds of ACLU lawsuits can honestly dispute that fact!

If they are "the most anti-American," then the nation is in a heck of a lot of trouble. The ACLU is designed to protect the rights guaranteed to all Americans in the Bill of Rights of the United Staes Constitution. If the ACLU is anti-American, then we are all in a lot of trouble.
Some of us think hostility to the U.S. Constitution is a great problem, not the ACLU.
... Some of us.

If somebody can explain how upholding the US Constitution is "un-American", I'd be very glad to listen to that argument. As it is, I doubt anyone here can make a cognitive argument like that, because the people with the mental capacity to make that argument, understand what the ACLU is, and how extremely American it is.

I can only think of one group who might be ahead of them.
The ACLU does not represent my views. They are in Hazelton, PA right now fighting for the "rights" of illegal immigrants in this country. How that can be construed as American Civil Liberties, is beyond me. Each and every one of them trying to defeat the will of the American people on this issue should be thrown in jail immediately for treason.

No, that would be the repuglican party, their criminal and abnormal behavior is atrocious and their taking of our rights and its assult and weakening of our Constitution is the most anti-American, and thank god for the ACLU to take these things to the supreme court as part of our system of checks and balance.

The ACLU is not anti-American but they are most certainly over zealous in their actions. They take a very narrow view of constitutional issues.

How are they anti-american when they try to protect our rights and stop the government from spying on us? Maybe you should go to their website and see what they really are all about.
