My name Destinee and i'm having a sweet 16 party at a party center and what not but i need help pickin a color for my party. I was thinkin gold and black, but my mom said that was to much like prom colors~!

Well you could go for the classic 50's look and do mint green and light pink, or you could go all pink. Pink seems to be the most common color for a sweet sixteen party. I would say if you like gold and black coordinate them in with classic colors, like pink. If you could make pink the main color and work gold and black in elsewhere it would give you the colors you want without making it look like a prom. Adding pink can also keep you design classy. Pink and black are great colors to pair together, with gold as an accent to those two colors they would look even better.

I would pick my favorite colors, since it is my party. But nothing like lime green or hot pink, thats just a little too crazy.

Or pick colors that you can match easy with a theme you might be going for.

Yes, First off, tube tops and denim minis are sooo out. they are a big fashion no. You can still keep the top, but instead of the skirt, try a light wash short. Now don't just wear the tube top alone. Cover it up with a sweater-jacket. It's light-weight and still stylish. For shoes add flip flops that have some jewels on the, =D

I look forward (sort of) to my daughters 16th I think I will let her do the choosing but hope she will let me help. I look at it as her 16th not mine.

about a 100 years ago when I had my 16th we did a sixty's theme with all kinds of wild colors. I thought it was great.
