Conjunctivitus (Pink Eye) is highly contagious anyone can get it no matter what age..
Take the baby to the dr who will prescribe eye drops..
For the crusty build-up use a clean warn washcloth to clean off the crust... Do no wash any other part of the baby with the cloth... Use a fresh clean cloth each time you wash the babies eye.. Wash all cloths with bleach to kill any bacteria that the cloth may harbor...
It should clear up in a week to 10 days...
Be careful not to transfer the infetion to yourself or anyone else by thouroughly washing your hands often... Also thouroughly wash the babys hands often...

Of course they can! Pink Eye is very contagious, so you have to take him to the doctor ASAP. Until you do, make sure you wash your hands often to prevent it from spreading to others in the family... that is, if it is pink eye.

You need to get him to a doc. Green coming out is not normal. If you are breastfeeding then you can put your breast milk in his eye & it will get rid of it. I did it on my oldest daughter & myself & actually my husband too. My oldest's eye was very pink & mine & my husband's was itching. It was gone almost completly the next day. The itching however stopped almost immediatly.

Yes, babies can get pinkeye. If you're nursing, the best thing for pinkeye is to squirt a little breastmilk in it. Works wonders! Seriously!
