My husband can only get his vacation time this week and I have no way of getting away from my job, and his mom is very sick. So he needs to go and of course taking the kids with him. Sad but True.
He's going to be away for 11 days with the kids.

Find out if any of your friends are going to be alone and invite them over. Or volunteer at a community Thanksgiving dinner.

It would be nice to be alone sometimes, you can get more rest after work and do not need to cook big meals ifor Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving day, you can call your husband and the kids say how much you miss them and also say something sweet to your mother-in-law as you couldn't go to Mexico to visit her.
Cooking for yourself only may be boring but you can still make something nice like pumpkin pie or meatloaf which you can keep the left over for the next day.

Get yourself invited to someones house for Thanksgiving and use the rest of the time to prepare for your family's return by decorating for Christmas, move some furniture around, etc...make it a fun time for them when they get home.

invite some friends over eat a turkey mashedpotatos and a drink or whatever then watch tv or a movie or see a movie in a theater or read a good book or play on the web.

Perhaps you could talk to one or more of your coworkers, and get invited over for Thanksgiving.
