There are a lot of great players, in the past and present. One of the best players who I have seen play cricket is the little genius Brian Lara. He has broken and holds the world record twice for the highest test score and also broken and holds the record for highest first class score 501*. He has the ability to single handlingly win matches and have proven that even against the top test team currently Austraila. He is simply one of the best.

Viv Richards
Look at his average -- 47.00
He achieved this avg when piches were not batting friendly. Also his strike rate was 90.
Now when he was in form much one day was not played, he played most one days at old age and at no 5/6 still he had a avg of 47 and strike rate of 90 and 11 century.
