I mean so many people have blue and brown eyes, and not many have green one.

There have been THREE sets of genes identified which contribute to eye colour. The reason why green eyes are so rare is that the genes the produce green eyes are themselves rare.

One set of genes has a brown and blue version, one set has a green and a blue version, and one set controls shading in brown eyes. The best explanatory theory right now actually suggests that brown is dominant to all other colours (so someone with a mix of genes is probably brown-eyed), green is dominant to blue (so a green-eyed parent and a blue-eyed one will have some green-eyed kids), and blue is completely recessive. The reason blue is more common than green as an eye colour is that there are just so few green-eyed genes in the population.

It bears mention that this theory fails to explain many oddities of eye colour, so there are probably several other genes that are involved but haven't been located yet. (That's what makes biology exciting, if you ask me!)

Nor is there any reason to believe that green eyes are going to 'disappear' from future generations. Unless some kind of selective force acts on genes, they are just as frequent in each generation, though they may become more spread out. So if 1% of the population has a green-eyed gene in one generation, the same percent is likely to have it in every following generation, barring some kind of accident, selective pressure, or the like.

Yeah they are and the people saying you're lucky are right! You should be grateful, I think green eyes are absolutely GORGEOUS! I'm stuck with brown eyes so if I were you I would consider myself very lucky to have a rare and beautiful eye color. And a makeup tip: Just to make them pop more, wear neutral eye makeup like a dark brown eyeliner and a shimmery gold or bronze shadow.

I have green eyes that have a bit of grey in them. Whenever I took pictures to send to people when they asked what I looked like they said that they couldn't stop looking at my eyes and that they're really beautiful. Green eyes tend to "hypnotize" people, they could probably stare at them for days if they could. When I cry they turn a sage green, when I'm happy or in the sun they turn the color of mountain dew or mintish green. I just recently found out that they're rare, but i wouldn't know, i don't generally pay attention to anyones eye color except my own because even i am put into a trance looking at my own eyes

I have green eyes, so does my dad, but my brothers don't, i didn't know it was rare. good genes I guess.

Dr. Why:

That's interesting because my mom has brown eyes, in fact most my maternal side has brown eyes with a few blue thrown in. Strange. Nature eh.

The most natural and healthy diet for humans is an omnivorous diet, and not a plant based diet, or a meat-based diet per se. The Paleo Diet can be very widely varied and omnivorous for the most part, but the most important thing is that it’s unprocessed, and avoids the worst foods that agriculture brought mankind… refined inflammatory vegetable oils, refined grains (some are worse than others), and sugar! Learn here https://tr.im/cbfUj

As you can see, the benefits of adopting a Paleo way of eating can be incredible! I’ve been eating 95% Paleo for the last 5-6 years and I’ve never felt better. I have dozens of friends that have adopted a more Paleo way of eating too, and have seen all sorts of health problems disappear, including eliminating acne and other skin problems, digestion problems, improving brain clarity, and of course, losing a lot of body fat!

My boys have a very light green eye color and mine are very light green when I am happy with yellow streaks running through them. But depending on our moods is depending on the depth of the green or darkness of the green which is normally a really light soft green but over the years I have noticed when I am upset or angry my eyes tend to favor the yellow deep streaks which consume my eyes and people often refer to my eyes as majestic or cat-like and I have extremely good night vision why????

I've got green eyes. I did't realise it was rare but now i feel all special. Maybe its a recessive gene or something.
