The Democratic approach to foreign policy it that militaristic force is always the last resort and that diplomacy should be utilized more often then is currently shown. The GOP (grand old party, republicans) outwardly do not help the middle and lower class, however through lobbyists and tax cuts for the upper class (earning class of More than $200,000 a year) the GOP consistently helps the rich.

The definition of Democrat and Republican is evolving. Republican USED to mean conservative both fiscally and socially. Don't spend to much money, leave governmental power in the states, encourage people to self sufficiency, protect the nation, etc. But Bush's party has abandoned most of these principals. They are spending like crazy.

The Democrats feel that power should be more centrally located in the Federal Government. They are more willing to support welfare type programs to distribute money to people they deem needy, they are less willing to use military force to obtain a goal. These days, the dems have a VERY liberal arm that just scares the bejeebers out of me. (I'm an ULTRA conservative independent and typing that last sentence without spinning it my way was VERY difficult!)

I don't understand you main question either, but democrats tend to focus governing domestically, rather than internationally. Crazy concept, eh? They attempt to work with other countries to solve problems affecting the entire world.

Republicans don't help the middle and lower classes, unless its by accident or if you count "underemploying" people as "helping".

I am confused by your question. I may be trying to read to much in to it. Are you asking a question that has two answers, in which you want to know what it means to be democrat, and what it means to be conservative? Or, are you asking what does it mean to be a democrat that is also conservative?
