Basketball wasn't even invented until then. The first team to ever win were the Buffalo Germans in 1865

Basketball was invented as a sport in 1891. The NBA was formed in 1946. The Philadelphia Warriors(Now Golden State) actually won that year, beating the Chicago Stags.
