If God is all knowing, then he knows our fate right?....Well, if he knows our fate then do we really have free will? I mean....if he knows what is going to happen to us everyday and knows what we are doing and what our choices are going to be then do we really have the choice or does it just seem like we have the choice. Do we just have the illusion of free will since God knows our fate?

He knows what's going to happen no matter what we do. We have the free will to choose Him or to not, and to choose anything else or to not. He knows what we're going to choose or what we're going to do, but that doesn't stop us from being the ones who choose it. See? If He created humans without free will, then His reason behind the creation would be pointless. We'd just be like puppets on a string, running around doing what He wants. He doesn't want that. He didn't create us to be something to play with, He created us to have a relationship with us.

Just because God has a plan for everyone, doesn't mean you don't have any "freedom". God knows you so well (as he created you) that he knows the decisions your going to make. But don't try to feel like you DON't have a choice & choose bad ones (like go crazy b/c u don't think u have any freedom) , because God made EVerything happen 4 a reason!!! <3

God knows what our choices will be because he knows all things. In no way does that mean we do not have free will. He does not stand in the way of our choices, or prevent our choices. Therefore we always have free will. Time does not exist in linear form as it does here in this earthly dimension. He knows our fate because he knows what we will choose before we decide, but he allows us to determine what those choices are, and regardless of those choices, His love for us is unconditional. So, whether we murder or love one another he loves us. Our life, and the world we create is shaped by our choices, and that is the free will we've been given. Whether to share the love God gave us or deny his love and strength is totally up to us. His love for us is eternal and unquestioned, regardless.

God gave humans the gift of free-will. Although God's ability to discern the outcome of someone's course in life, it does not mean that He's responsible for what we do or that He wanted us to have that outcome because of our choices we made. Any choices we make as individuals & based on what is observed by God, yes, he can foresee the outcome before we can.

(i.e. - on basis of what is observed, a weather forecaster may predict the weather with a great degree of accuracy, but he/she does NOT cause it or necessarily like it)

Hmm.. Good thinking. I like how you thought deeply into the matter.
He does know what is going to happen, and in Colossians (a book in the Bible) it says that He is always watching over us and is 'approving' of what is going on in your life.
For ex/ You get cancer. (just an example!)
so you have cancer. Many people would blame God and say, 'Why did you let me get cancer?' Aren't you supposed to watch over me?
Well, He knows whats best for you. I mean, maybe some kind of lesson ? Just trust in Him.
It may not be a punishment, b/c I know people who are like the nicest and they have died at a very young age. So, just believe in Him. He always knows whats going on. Oh yes, and about your question: He knows/planned your destiny already, but you yourself chooses the path to take it. For ex/ Adam and Eve. Their goal was to have God's life. But they sinned so Jesus had to die for their sins in order for regeneration. So basically you do have free will, you choose the path to your destined 'fate.'

I get your logic.

This is just my opinion.
I do believe in God, and I think God knows what will happen if we choose a certain action. But I don't think God is "forcing" us to choose. Simply put, God knows all the outcomes of our choices, but I we choose where to go.

Lets do a little illustration:
If some one from the future had been video taping you your whole life and knew everything you doing, and everything your going to do...and came back to the present, but didn't change anything...it doesn't stop you from having free choice now does it ???

good point.. im agnostic and im trying to answer your question as a christian but i seem not to get the answer.. the "free will" that they probably mean is that we have the right to do anything against the will of God but you raised a good point that we really don't have a free will to do it since God knows whats going to happen and basicly it's unchangable

I'll play along for the sake of discussion.

Just because God knew what we're going to do wouldn't mean he controlled what we did. Think about it. A skydiver jumps out of an airplane. You know he's eventually going to fall to the ground. That doesn't mean you're making him fall.

I think you're confusing our normal ability to make decisions on our own with the ability to choose God through a total depravity of sin in our lives.
