An analytical paper contains an analysis of a particular situation. It deals with analytical content (= thesis, argument and use of evidence). Therefore, it is not a summary of findings. "Pros" and "cons" are arguments for or against.

Arguments, for their part, depend upon evidence (= explanation).
So, in order to write an analytical research paper, you have to choose a subject; collect data (to be analyzed); state your thesis (a proposition you want to prove) and provide evidence.
