I read Halberstam's book -- in fact, I've read almost all of his books. I thought "The Teammates" would be better for those who might remember Ted Williams and his teammates first-hand (in other words, someone my parents' age). Not sure how the youngsters related to it. But Halberstam sure knows how to write a paragraph.

Teammates helped get me through the winter last year.
Real Grass, Real Heroes is a great one too. The Dommer chronicling one of the greatest seasons ever.
