It depends on the person and how they 'remember' the birthday. Is this a casual acquaintance who makes a big-to-do about everybody's birthday? Or is this somebody close to you?

If the former, these types of people make me twitchy. You usually have to feign excitement, surprise, and thanks. Often the gift your receive leaves a sort of frozen smile on your face as you think to yourself, "Oh my sweet, feathery Jesus... what the hell is this, why did this person think I'd want it, and where the hell do I put it?" Then you realize that you are going to have to figure out this person's birthdate so you can get them a present. In my experience this ends up affecting other gift-giving occasions, too.

If it's somebody close, well, then I'd likely be more upset by them not noticing. Truth be told, though, for some reason my oldest friend and I can never QUITE remember each other's birthdays. We have them nailed within a week's span of time, but have long since accepted that there is some mental block that has us going every year, "Now, was your birthday on the 22nd or 26th?"

I have a co-worker who remembers everyones birthday and will remind you. I think he does this so he'll get a gift from everyone although he isn't a gift giver.
