If you had a choice for covered parking (vs. no covered parking,) but it meant driving an additional 5 miles to get there, would you drive the extra miles?
I live in Arizona where it is hotter than he-- here in the summer. I told my boyfriend about this idea and he laughed at me. Come on, who wouldnt rather put their groceries, children.....babies or themself in a cooler or rain free(depending on the time of year) car? After all, its November now and if the predictions for tomarrow are correct...its going to be in the low 90's!! Am I on to something here?

Bon idee! At the airport paid parking they have these big umbrella things. Could be retrofit for the extant parking lots. I would use it, and would invest in the idea.

With the price of gas, going an extra 5 miles would be 10 by the time you figure the trip home. 10 miles in city traffic equals how much wasted gas times how many people doing it?

I wonder what the settlers did a hundred years ago?

Oh, and what percentage are your groceries going to go up by to pay for this? Or how much are they going to charge you to park in covered parking?

That would be a huge canopy. Not very realistic.
