I know I'm violating the rules, but were it up to me I would let him have Iraq back to rule. It would serve them right. It's what they want anyway. It's all those folks over yonder know...

Well I believe hanging is the common way of execution in Arab countries, and as you can imagine is a lot more frightful than the lethal injection method used here in the United States. The crimes he committed definately warrant the worst possible punishment, and he's lucky to not have to face some of the cruel fates he issued to "criminals" he captured in his regime.
Off the top of my head, I remember an incident on TV in which he was speaking with a cigar in his hand with an auditorium full of "supporters", and then started reading names off a list of people in the audience that he suspects had betrayed him. Those people were taken outside and executed. And then when you remember the attacks with Chemical Weapons against the Kurds in N. Iraq, you realize that at least the families of his victims need to see that he has been killed in order to obtain some closure.
This question really boils down to whether you are for or against the death penalty. If you support it the slightest bit, I think you can agree that crimes against humanity and in the extent that he committed surely makes him deserving of it.
I hope this answers your question, and if I remember correctly you said today is your birthday in another question or answer? If it is, Happy Birthday! and I hope your bf remembered, and if it isn't, then I confused you for someone else.

I think the death penalty is at times a valid punishment. If you remember the execution of Ceausescu in Romania, he had a very quick private trial and execution. The people just wanted to rid his life and memory from society. It is the same with Saddam, it is better to rid him from society. Their is also a possibility since many view his trial as being illegal, that he could be set free some day if the Sunnis gain political power again in Iraq. His death is a signature statement that the old Iraq must be removed and never brought back.

Saddam deserves to die without question, but that'd be just the same as "an eye for an eye". once we kill him, then what? the end? happy ending? no... we are wayy too far from a happy ending. i think we should let him live for the rest of his life, with each day he has to be reminded of his horrible crimes against all those he murdered. that's enough to kill him inside out... not by hanging. that's all i have to say about this.

Hanged. It seems a more brutal way to die. Plus, I don't think he has much of a conscious. It's not as if sitting in jail will make him ponder the meaning of life and all of the wrong he has done. Hanging is pretty torturous. It seems the only logical solution....life for life.

I think he should be left in jail..to rot...anyone should be able to view and talk to him...to mock, and discust him. He has been treated like a King all his life. "Our god is forgiving" he has no right to be sitting by our lord...he has wronged to many people...or better yet. Why don't they do what they did to Jesus..all the things they did to him..including the horrible beatings..and torture..the people in that country are so barbaric..they make me sick. Why don't they just crusify him and get it over with..like they did our "Lord and Savior"...Eye for an Eye".

I don't understand people wanting the death penalty....I think the worst punishment would be to stay in jail for the rest of your life....only leaving in a body bag.
Knowing you will be merely existing with no hope of ever seeing the outside again, to me is worse than death.
I would make one change....spending the rest of your life in jail with no contact with family or friends.

If he is killed, he becomes a martyr. If he remains in jail, he's just another convict.
