If you like the guy but were not able to tell him yourself, maybe your friend did you a favor by doing what you couldn't. Even if it turned out badly you can now forget him and move on with your life and look for someone else. Perhaps you can also learn from this to be careful what you share with others sometimes you have to keep your own secrets first.

Ok, first of all, what's the big deal? Now he knows...you don't have to worry about figuring out a way to tell him! Secondly, you shouldn't do something back to your friend that you didn't appreciate having done to yourself.
