How come 'Butters' is everyone's favourite character on Southpark?

I don't know what it is but I can't get enough of the little fella. Is it his fast yankee drawl, his naivety, his independence and the fact that we don't see much of him, or even just his turquoise shirt? Could it be the fact that he doesn't allow Cartman's bullying to get to him? Maybe it's the fact that he isn't one of the four central characters, and is usually seen mingling with the other kids. I don't know what it is, but I'm just hooked on the little wee devil.

Butter's popularity can be linked to empathy. Unlike the other characters in the show, like Kyle and Stan (both have common sense, seem like the normal ones of the pack), or Cartman (our naturally greedy side that people do not normally like to show), Butters gives us a part of childhood that many of us would like back, our chidish innocence. The yearn for that childlike innocence can draw on our childhood memories as well as follies due to naivete and create a bond unlike the rest. Plus he's so damn funny you can't help but laugh.

I didn't like Butters at first, but he has sorta grown on me.

Cartman and Kenny are still my faves.
