I like Houston, Texas. The cost of living compared to other cities is relatively low and we do not have state income tax here in Texas. The weather gets hot, but bearable and we have lovely mild winters.

Obviously, I can't say, well about all the states. The States I have lived in California,Oregon,Tennessee,Kentucky,Georgia, and New Mexico.
I have 4 children-22,20 then I have a 6&7. When my older children were young 8/9yrs.- I was a single mother and wanted them to have great memories from growing up, I had transferred my job from Oregon and Moved us to Flintstone Georgia, (5 miles from Chattanooga Tn.) I had never lived in Georgia before, I spent a total oh maybe 15/18 yrs. in Oregon, on and off I had the same neighbor all that time. We spoke once. When I moved us to Georgia, I went to get gas and before I left the gas station I had met 6/8 of the friendliest people I had ever met. For a family, I would definately go for the southern States, everything revolves around the children!!
