If something does not feel right to you, than use your motherly instincts and go get it checked out just to be sure, otherwise you'll be sitting around stressing out & wondering. I went into labor at 33 weeks, I knew something didn't feel right with cramps I was having, & told the doc, he didn't even check me down there & whammo, that night, I was in early labor, I lost my mucus plug & it was too late to stop the delivery, two days later came baby, luckily, he was really healthy for being early.

Normally, Braxton Hicks contractions feel like the top of the uterus is getting very hard and then getting softer again on its own.
What you are describing is something that warrants a trip to the hospital. It may be nothing, and maybe you're right that its false labor - but get checked out (particularly since you feel that the baby dropped).
Don't just assume this is Braxton Hicks contractions. The cramps sound like it could be something else. Let a doctor diagnose what these cramps are.

I think you should go to the hospital just in case. I've had two children and both times I felt "period-like" cramps, i was in labour! Braxton hicks do not feel like period cramps! Be safe, not sorry.

If you have any worries, call your ob. My daughter dropped very early, though. Around 7 months, if I am remembering right. I felt like her head was between my legs the whole time. She is now five months and I am just now starting to feel normal down there. The cramping sounds like contractions to me, but if they aren't consistently under 10 minutes apart, you don't have to worry about them.

Sounds like good ol' braxton hicks. I had my daughter 6 weeks ago and I felt the same thing for the last 2 months of my pregnancy. Call your midwife or doctor if you start spotting, leaking fluid or see your mucus plug.

CALL YOUR DOCTOR!! If you are ever worried about anything.. call your doctor. It could be signs of labor, or it could just be braxton hicks like you said. But please call your doctor. Best Wishes.
