Yes, and i still bring up this argument when talking politics with an avid Reagan/bush/bush fan. It is hard not to forget that Reagan plunged the national debt to levels previously unheard. But let us not forget that the economy took a horrible hit as well, with FIFTY percent of farmers(just mentioning one of the hard it economic groups) nation wide going bankrupt thanks to his trickle down economics. Lets us learn from one of the worst presidents ever and try not to vote another one in...uh...wait..damn, to late.

until Ronald Reagan took office my father who had 8 children paid 45 percent of his income to taxes my father was an Aerospace engineer and made just enough to make him upper middle class. Reagan's administration lowered his taxes to 28 percent and for the first time he was able to buy us a nice steak for dinner, People called my father rich but before Reagan he couldn't even help his children pay for college. None of us went on our senior class trips or had class rings unless we paid out of our own pockets. As far as the quality of my life goes Reagan was the best President this country ever had.

Not a real relevant issue today. Are you pretending to be a liberal to stir the republican base by dissing Reagan?
Bush has increased the national debt by more than any other president. He's been responsible for hunting terrorists for 6 years, and he's done a lousy job of it. These are the important issues.

You know what is interesting, I give Reagan credit for facing the Soviets head on and defeating them. But no historian talks about the complete abscence of any post-war planning. Think about it, the Cold War ended, and what happened afterwards were a bunch of satelite states breaking off and brewing into terrorist breeding grounds.

He did bad things in office. However, he made the economy good and tried to make treaties with Soviet Union. Reagan isn't the epitome of great president as conservatives make him out to be but he is not the devil liberals wanted him to be.

No, I never was.
This is 2006 my friend, not 1986. The man's legacy is now left to historians. To blame Reagan for today's ills, well.......
For the record, I'm a Moderate Democrat, not some right wing Republican.

Well, as far as the weapons go, it isn't like he did that on purpose. I mean, he thought he was doing the right thing and had good intentions. I am more upset that we elected Bush Sr. right after Reagan. Talk about making the same mistake 3 times. Then we go and elect Bush Jr twice, are we mad?

Wow.. I am not. He single handedly ended the cold war by that spending, but the real effect can be seen by the economic prosperity that followed. Clinton certainly benefitted. By the way, todays ally may be tomorrows enemy. Hindsight is always 20/20

Well the Gipper was the second worst that was ever ELECTED. Maybe you are too young to remember Tricky Dick, but he was the worst ELECTED president, sharing some of the characteristic contempt for the Constitution that Dumbya does. But now we have an UNelected DICTATOR who makes me nostalgic for even the clowns I reference above. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!
