Using University of Texas at Austin as a starting point and Juneau, Alaska as a ending point the shortest distance is 2231.5 miles with a travel time of 69 hours and 44 minutes hope this helps.

I like the above answer. As both are vast geographic locations, I used GoogleEarth to measure, and it varied from almost 4300 miles - greatest distances to about 2250 miles - closest distances.
