Unfortunately, I rather hear the ugly truth. I can't stand people who tip-toe around your feelings...just say what is on your mind. I tend to have more respect for people who are blunt, than people who gossip about you behind your back & you have to end up hearing something bad about you from the horse's mouth.

The truth, whether it's ugly or not.

But it doesn't HAVE to be ugly. Sometimes people use 'honesty" as a club with which to beat others. It's possible to tell the truth in a way that doesn't make someone else wrong, and isn't purposely hurtful.

Sometimes, when people ask me a qustion that I think they may not *really* want answered, I give them this option:

"Would you like the truth...or a comforting lie?"

No matter how unpleasant the truth may be, I prefer it in all instances. Covering up the truth with a real pretty lie, in order to protect someone's feelings, is a noble thing. Eventually, however, the truth comes out. At that point, it hurts ten times worse.

The ugly truth, I so hate a lie. I have had people tell me a story that I fell for only to find out later they lied and from that point on the relationship is forever a lie to me. Now, I expect nothing from people in general. I so hate lies.

to hear a pretty truth means to hide from whats going on in life. it means to feel happy for a moment only to face the problem later at a higher cost to yourself. to hear an ugly truth means to face the problem and (depending on what type of person you are) either sit there and cry about it or do somthing about it and fix it. you may feel bad for a small while, but you feel relieved later that it's off of your mind.
