However, the important thing here is that you understand what % means. If you memorize answers to example problems or just look for the pattern, you risk never understanding the basic concept.
% means PARTS PER HUNDRED.
Therefor, 7% means 7 parts per hundred.
In all your word problems, "per" means divsion.
So 7 parts per 100 means 7/100.
The decimal equivalent is found by doing the division of 7/100 and you will get .07
