It is important to the Iraqis. Saddam tortured his own people and killed them by putting them in mass graves. Saddam was an evil dictator and has no regards for human life. He is nothing more than pure evil in my opinion. Not all of the Iraqis want Saddam alive although that is how the media portrays it, that the Iraqis want to kill all of the Americans over in Iraq. This is not true, there are people that are thankful for the Americans being there and I for one appreciate the troops. So in regards to your question it will be important for the Iraqis because they had to put up with an evil dictator for so long and it will be a day for them to pursue a lifelong dream of a democracy. Hoped it helped! ;)

Well...being cynical I would say the republicans are making it more significant and using it as vindication of their strategy in Iraq. That besides, its always a significant historical event when a world leader is tried and executed for crimes against humanity. It's also a major event in the fledgling democracy/legal system in Iraq. It will also be an important event considering the sectarian split in Iraq between the Sunni and Shi'ite muslims, it will probably be a further sticking point between the two camps.

Most dictators end up in exile, protected by one group or another. Rarely do they meet a humiliating death, since they all have secrets to spill before they die.
