Everytime I click on something once [like Internet Explorer in the Start menu or folders in my desktop] a new menu opens up with the 'open, run as...' options. How do I make this stop? [I use the left clicker to open things, etc].

Ok, I checked the properties to see if it was on as a left handed mouse but it's not. I'm guessing that's not it, then :(

A menu like that pops up when you click the RIGHT button under normal circumstances. What happens when you click the button on the right side? Does your icon turn blue? If you double-click the right button, does IE open up?

If so, you can fix this by going into your computer's Control Panel. Click on START and Control Panel should be on the right-hand side of the menu (if not, click on START using the other mouse button).

From here, it depends on your operating system. You might see an icon called "mouse", or you might see "printers and other hardware" - if so, click this, and then you'll see one called "mouse". Double click "mouse". Move to the "properties" tab if you are not already there. Then under "button configuration", see if the box before "switch primary and secondary buttons" is checked. If it is, uncheck this box, and it should return everything to normal.

If this doesn't help, I would go to the Website of the company who manufactured your mouse. They usually have tips for troubleshooting problems like yours.

I hope this helps. Try it and see.

One of two things is happening here...

Either your mouse is going bad
(Pretty cheap and easy to replace. Just power down your machine first)

OR
Your mouse has been changed to a "Left Hand" Mouse.
(No I am NOT kidding!)

Go to "Start - Settings - Control Panel" and click on Mouse.
You should see an option for "Right-Hand / Left Hand" Mouse.
(Or it may simply say "Reverse Mouse", or Reverse Buttons)
Make sure that yours is set to "Right-Hand" for normal Mouse Button operation.

People who use the mouse with their Left hand will sometimes "reverse" the buttons, so that when they "Click" with their index finger (Right Button) Windows will interpret this as a normal "Click" instead of a "Right Click".

Sometimes, people will do this as a prank on Righ-Handed people.

I hope this helps!

It is difficult to find out if this is a problem caused by your mouse, or the brower that you are using. I would suggest to uninstall Internet explore once, and reinstall it over again. Next, go and check if the problem has been corrected. If not, you can also try to install another brower like firefox to find out if the same problem persists. It you do get the same problem in all software, then go ahead and uninstall your mouse, and reinstall again. As always, you can plug in a different mouse to check too, if you don't want to spend the time to figure out whether it is caused by our software or the mouse. Good luck, hope this helps!
