I'm being so serious. I think he should have warned me first. Also he did not explain why he did it. Any ideas?

FYI: I didn't "let" him do it. He finished my vaginal exam and he just stuck his finger in there (yes w/ a glove).

Rectal exams are a routine part of the gynecologic exam, although obviously not all physicians choose to do it. Some doctors will only do it if you have a complaint specific to that area - like diarrhea, rectal pain, blood in stool, etc.

Usually, the rectal exam is performed on a woman for two reasons. One, as mentioned above, is to test for occult blood - i.e. to make sure you aren't bleeding into your digestive tract. The second reason is usually to palpate the rectovaginal walls - did your doctor also have a finger in your vagina at the time? Because that is one way to check for abnormalities in the vagina that could mean cancer.

I perform this exam fairly often. Sorry to the responder above, but you can't feel the ovaries via the rectum. And it is definitely not molestation - please! Although I admit, I would expect my doctor to warn me first. And it is your body, you can refuse any part of the exam you want, just as long as you understand that the doctor may therefore miss something important, and you take responsibility for that.

Step 4. The Rectovaginal Exam
Many clinicians complete the bimanual exam by inserting a gloved finger into the rectum to check the condition of muscles that separate the vagina and rectum. They also check for possible tumors located behind the uterus, on the lower wall of the vagina, and in the rectum. Some clinicians insert one finger in the anus and another in the vagina for a more thorough examination of the tissue in between.

During this procedure, you may feel as though you need to have a bowel movement. This is normal and lasts only a few seconds.

this is a real procedure, but he should have said something.

You should be glad you have a doctor that is doing another check on your ovaries. Yes, it's weird and uncomfortable, but the best gyn's can get a better feel of the ovaries this way. But next time, ASK. don't be afraid.
I had a few doctors that could care less about really checking for problems. I finally found a female doctor that explained this procedure. And sure enough, I checked it online and verified it.

Ovarian cancer is a silent killer. No symptoms until it's too late.

Rectal Exam During Pregnancy

he tested your stool for blood - a sign of colon cancer - a complete gyno exam should involve this - those that don't get it done should

finger in, wipe on...i don't know! and then i think a solution is dropped on it - turns a color if there is blood

an excerpt - Finally should come the rectal and/or rectovaginal exam. In the former, the doctor places one finger in the rectum, while in the latter they insert their index finger into the vagina and their middle finger into the rectum. This is a very important part of the pelvic exam as it allows the doctor to check the rectum for abnormalities such as hemorrhoids, fissures, and signs of cancer, allows them to have a better feel of certain organs, and is the best way for them to check the wall between the vagina and rectum. No pelvic exam is complete without a rectal exam, so if your doctor doesn't automatically include it be sure to request it.

Hemorrhoids are associated with constipation and straining at bowel movements. How to get rid of hemorrhoids https://tr.im/zOjE7
Pregnancy is also associated with hemorrhoids. These conditions lead to increased pressure within the hemorrhoidal veins that causes them to swell. Other conditions, for example chronic liver disease, may also cause increased venous pressure and may be associated with hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are very common and are estimated to occur in up to one-half of the population by age 50.
