Most people I've seen in London this week have bare lapels. I remember when everyone wore one as a mark of respect - do people care less? If you don't have one, is it by choice or because you've not seen a seller yet?

Racer - the poppies here commemorate the end of WWI in November 1918 and remember those who gave their lives in that and later wars. The money raised from poppy sales helps veterans.

i hate to say it but i think people are caring less

its a sad state of affairs when we forget what these people did and do for us

i live in another country now and i STILL wear mine....i even make a point of thanking the vets that sell them for standing by us when we needed them and its nice to see their faces when they see how much they are appreciated by someone not even originally from thier country (obviously my accent gives me away)

maybe more needs to be done to educate youth about what happened in the last century and how much we have now and owe to those that fought

Hey, its the same up in glasgow, it sucks, maybe people just dont recognise rememberance day as much these days. What really narks me off though is people who wear the white poppy - 'for peace'. Fine, peace is good. But they're hijacking a ceremony that is meant to show respect for an entire generation (2 in fact) of people who sacrificed so much for our way of life. Red poppy's arent condoning war, they're the continued observance of an earlier generation's contribution for our freedom (really our freedom not george dubyas interpretation).

And thats why everyone should wear a red poppy!

thanks for letting me rant

I agree with you,its a disgrace that more people dont wear poppys.

These guys fought for our freedom and the least we could do is help in any small way we can.

What's a poppie? Never heard of it. Maybe that's why no one wears them.
