I’ve toyed around with the idea of getting an earring, but I have such an astoundingly small tolerance for pain that I kind of want to avoid a piercing. I’ve seen pierceless (magnetic, fake, clip, etc.) earring studs and hoops at various stores like Hot Topic or Hippie themed stores. I was just wondering it that would look good, or just make me look like a dweeb. What do you all think?
I’d probably wear it on my left ear; all my other accessories (watch, wallet, Lance Armstrong band, etc.) seem to be on my right side, I thought a left earring would balance it out a bit… or something…

Honestly, I don't think I've ever even realized when someone was wearing a "fake" earring ... but then again, I've never really -looked- so who knows, perhaps some people can tell. I suppose some folks might think it's silly if you get a pierceless earring but when it comes down to it, it's your ear, if you feel more comfortable with that than with a real earring I say go for it =)
Though having said that, I do also have to add my vote alongside the other folks who've said that getting an ear piercing isn't that big of a deal. I'd second the person who suggested going to a professional piercer rather than letting some person at the mall inflict a piercing on you with one of those "piercing guns," but no matter what if you do decide to get a real piercing, you probably will find that it's a lot less painful, for a lot shorter time, than you might expect =)

It depends on their appearance. If it looks fine, it's okay, most people won't care. If it isn't, don't bother. Specially, if it's the formal kind of earrings. The ones with diamonds or pearls and stuff. Definite no on the fake stuff if it's like that.

Just get the real piercing. It doesn't hurt i have 3 holes in one ear and 2 in the other also my belly button. Trust me it don't hurt and yes if they find out that you are wearing a fake earring they will think you're a dweeb. Think about it little babies get their ears pierced

um..... i wouldn't bother with the fake earring. It would be rather embarrassing to have it fall off your ear. It really doesn't hurt that much.
If you get the fake earring, just wear it around the house and see what you look like with it in. Just don't leave the house with it on. :)

Just pierce your ear. Commit or don't do it at all. If you get it done by a proper piercer and not some gun in a stupid mallstore... it will be a quick pinch and it'll be over. For one of my piercings, I didn't even know my piercer had the needle in my ear until he was putting the jewelry in. It's really not a big deal.

Fake earrings are really duff - apart from when worn at boarding school to wind up the teachers... We used magnetic ones to make the teachers think that they were seeing things...

That's kinda....gay...Just get the real thing! It doesn't hurt...It's more of a stinging than actual pain.
