I've seen oil filled and convetor heaters, I wonder which is cheaper to run. Also it is for our nursery, aparently we need to keep the room a constant tempreture.

Can anyone offer advice?

The oil heaters seem best and are also safest.

I second the notion of an oil filled radiator. There are different sizes and of course, you can adjust temp to find the best economy and just right heat.
A mate of mine used one to heat a smallish bedroom and a bath. The bath was almost too warmish on a below feezing morning, and the bedroom reasonably comfortable at a 3/4 setting.
I would not use a portable electric fire because I have one, and the blasted thing only heats where it is aimed and it uses as much power as about twenty light bulbs all at once! Also the thermostat never seems to shut off. It is always working on a coolish day. I gave up on it and boil water on the gas burner instead!

Personally I would go for an oil filled radiator. These come with timing switches and thermostats these day and are far more efficient and stylish than the old ones used to be. I've had some and found them very good. Di-Longi is a good brand.

I keep answering similar questions each week.
Radiant heaters heat people directly, but not the air.
Convector heaters heat the air but not people.
Go for a convector with stat. Oil -filled are safe for a nursery
