Shopping is a form of nesting behavior. The end goal is to furnish and maintain the home.
Make-up is used for beautification, and the reason for this is to increase one's appeal (to men AND women), and one's perceived status.
Sports serve no useful function, apart from entertainment...and, even that's a stretch. Observing sports games does not secure or furnish a home, or increase one's appeal.
Therefore it is a false analogy.
