I am having trouble enforcing POV and bias in DBQs. What is wrong with the following, what improvements I should make, and what are some ways to definately tell that I have included POV and bias?

Example: William Salmon, an English physician, explicates the effects of a potato: "...stop fluxes of bowels...and restore the lungs from atrophy, tuberculosis, and ulceration" (Doc. 3). However, physicians at the time were very expensive, and only people with great wealth can consult one. The majority of the European population was the people with little income, so they cannot afford to see a physician.

I really need help, and please be simple yet a bit specific as possible!!!!!

Offer more detail as to why the Docs report is Bias, Ie: The only patients that could afford the Doc, were in the same social class and therefore they prob. ate the same type of foods in which affected only that class. The poor people more than likley ate totally different , and were never seen by the Doc anyway so how could the Docs reports be non-bias when it only consisted of the statistics regarding one specific social class. The Docs findings or reports are to be taken lightly and to be considered incomplete and un-professional.

Another bias might be the assumption made in the sentence that people "cannot afford to see a physician". While there were a great many doctors offering care in trade or for free, there was also a general distrust/suspicion of doctors by some.

Simply and specifically, I think you are asking a question that the history gurus among us would have trouble answering - it doesn't seem to relate to history at all. I took college-level history courses and have no idea what you mean by "enforcing POV and bias in DBQ's".

Are you sure this is a history question? I would suggest it belongs in a different category. Sorry, that's the best help I can offer you. Good luck finding your answer.

"physicians at the time were very expensive" Since there were doctors at the time giving their services away for free, this is a biased generalization.

"only people with great wealth" Ties in with the above. Also the term "great wealth" elicits judgment.

"The majority of the European population was the people with little income" This is just poorly structured.
