I have a close friend who is Chinese she is turning 31 this month. She has been in this country for three years but has never received a nice gift from her friends here. I would like to get her something thougtfull. She is a frugile person and she doesn't wear jewlery. I have noticed a charm around her neck which she wears when she feels troubled. Any ideas would be greatly appreaceated

I would suggest getting her something you know she will appreciate. Don't go overboard because with her being a frugal person, you don't want to get her something that will make her feel uncomfortable. Get her something you know she will enjoy like maybe one of those pretty lighted fountains.

since her birthday is coming up, i would ask her what she wants...that's always a good start. try and take notice when you guys are hanging out or shopping, what does she have her eye on? maybe you can get a bunch of friends together to take her out to dinner. Ask her what the charm that she wears around her necklace is for...you might get an idea of what to get her from that. good luck...and happy birthday to her!

Give her flowers, your fave cologne for women, and a box of chocolates.
Classy, traditional, very American.
Don't forget the whimsical card. Not to serious, not insultingly funny.
