I want to challenge someone to a duel, as he has annoyed me. Is this illegal?
Obviously, it would be illegal to kill him, but surely I should be allowed to maim him.

Challenge him to a fencing dual check yellow pages or on line for your nearest club If the man has any honour he is duty bound to except and best of all a legal sport (and as in any sport accidents can happen lol) good luck
p.s if he is a scoundrel with no honour and refuses your challenge just find the thing he loves most and kill that instead. (disclaimer- please ensure you ask us prior to the killing so we can advise you on any legal repercussions)

Until very recently there was a law that everyone had forgotten: "Trail by Combat". Someone got given a parking ticket, looked up this law and challenged the traffic warden who gave him the ticket. The police said that they weren't going to give him that, so the law was changed. But if you just want a basic duel I think you would both get arrested for fighting. If neither of you told, and it was kept secret, then maybe.

Dueling is illegal in the UK and has been for a long time. If however he were to attack you there would be reason to defend yourself. If in the course of that defense there could be an accidental injury.

It seems to me that it's been illegal for about 150 years or so.
Mind you, if you duel with tickling sticks, that wouldn't be illegal at all.

Take an intellectual revenge.........
I'm afraid that even removing your leather glove and slapping him thrice about the face with it is no longer allowed......
You could always lower your cloak over a puddle for him to step on it, without telling him the puddle is 6 feet deep!
