I have a '95 Ford Taurus. It was running perfectly fine about three hours before... and I went to start the car... I give it gas, like normal... go to break to take it out of park and it dies. I can keep my foot on the gas and it will stay running, but as soon as I let up, it dies.
What could this possibly be? And, approximately how much will it cost to fix?

It's very likely that you have some dry-rotted vaccum lines and/or a bad EGR valve. You can take care of the EGR to get you by if you unplug the vaccum line going to it and put a screw in that vaccum line. EGR is a waste of space and should have never been placed on automobiles. Check all of your vaccum lines for cracking and dry-rot. The fumes from unleaded gas dries them out after around 10 years. Good luck.

Jeff has a point. But I'd still bet it's the Idle air control located near your throttle linkage. I own a 92 taurus and that fixed my problem similar to yours

If that could be a Chrysler product, that is probably the ballast resistor. on the start place, finished contemporary is going to the ignition circuit to start the engine. on the run place, the circuit runs in the process the ballast resistor to decrease the present point & boost ignition component existence/toughness. Older Buick & Olds fashions used the comparable set-up, as does my 'eighty two Plymouth Voyager (PB-250) van. discover it interior the engine compartment ,in lots of situations on the firewall ( white ceramic approx. 3/4" huge & 2 one million/2" long), linked to the wiring harness by utilising lady spade connectors. To temp-restoration, make a brief jumper cord, with ideally 10 ga. stranded cord, utilising male spade connectors & by utilising-bypass the resistor. that would get your chum to the factors keep to purchase a alternative, they don't seem to be costly, yet, the factors keep ought to could order one. An absolute emergency restoration : use a brief piece (one million/2") of coat hanger to connect the two lady spades & wrap with electric powered tape. had to try this after myself whilst my 'eighty two provide up on the Ind. twin carriageway eighty mi. from domicile on a sunlight. night. do no longer depart the temp-fixes in place for too long, you're taking a raffle of "frying" greater costly digital ignition comeponents.wish this helped, sturdy success.
