I didn't realize that was a rule. If you're under 18, just get your folks to set up an account for you.

Bidding on an ebay auction is the same as signing a contract, which is why you have to be over 18. If they find you are under 18 you will lose your account .

Yes you have to be 18 in order open an account on ebay
because it all has to do with online contracts. And you're not legally able to agree to any contracts unless you're 18.
And if you do open an account on ebay if you're not 18, they can suspend your account and ban you from using their site.
