I would say do some research on your own. Each laptop is different and you should get one that best for you. My friend and I did and we loved ours. He got a Acer and I got Gateway.

From my experience as a on site Support Tech I got a lot of calls for laptops. By far the most support calls went to Sony laptops then Toshiba then dells then Apple.

Considering Sony has a small market share compared to dell I would say the worse is Sony followed by Apple if you factor in their market share.

I have not supported one think-pad or hp and I have been doing this for about a year. Most think-pad users are business men with their own tech support.

If I were to buy a new laptop it would be a dell or an hp. I currently have a hp that cost 600 new about 3 years ago and not a single problem with it.

BEYOUND A DOUBT get an Apple for 3 reasons 1. very great made machine (yes toshiba is good), 2 The best support system (not foreign where there is a communication problem) 3 Most importantly these idiots that send viruses out only hit the Windows system as oppose to Apples.I have a Dell and regret not having an Apple and believe me that will be my next laptop. I have practially owned them all so I speak with authority. One problem is Apple is more expensive but remember you don't get all the problems like you do from windows.

It doesnt matter in the end - I bought a really expensive one thinking oh yeah it'll be better than a cheap one that'll be cheaply made but what happens - it goes and breaks down a few months after I bought it - meanwhile all the people with their cheap 600 ones are still using them. UGhh!

laptop computers can be a rather tricky buy at times, I would suggest that you look out for the cheapest and yet latest desktop on the market, the best way to do this is on what they call warehouse sale markets some of them are online. these warehouse owners have a service where they sell laptop computers to normal customers like you and me, however with very reduced prices due to the fact that they do not have as much costs as normal shops do, such as rent and a employees etc. as you know most online shops have rather competitive prices sometimes cutting the laptop price to a half. one such website for laptop computers is :
