It is driving me nuts!

You are given four numbers: 1 3 4 6. By using all of these numbers only once, can you get them to equal 24? You may add, subtract, multiply, or divide as much as you want. You may also use parentheses. Please help!

This might be cheating based on the restrictions of the question, but you could do (1^3)*4*6 = 24

I'll see if I can fuigure it out without power functions as well...

this would nicely be a simultaneous equation issue. enable x: person, y: toddlers x+y=a hundred (one million) 50x+30y=3180 (2) could remedy the above 2 equations. Rearranging the 1st one: x=a hundred-y (3) changing equation (3) in (2): 50(a hundred-y)+30y=3180 (4) Simplifying (4) provides: 5000-50y+30y=3180 and that is comparable to -20y=-1820 y=-1820/-20=ninety one changing y in (3) provides x=a hundred-ninety one=9 consequently, no. of person is 9 and no. of teenagers is ninety one.
