Add water, maybe heat it(?) and then filter it. The solution will contain the sugar and the filtrate remaining is sand.

Salt is an ionic compound, made up of two charged atoms in a lattice shape. Water grips charged atoms very tightly, and pulls the compound aside, considering water is a polar molecule. Sand is a covalent compound. quite of charged atoms, it is made up of impartial atoms that proportion electrons (a covalent bond). Water does not oftentimes dissolve those compounds.

Adding water dissolves the sugar...then just filter out the liquid and boil away the water and you've got your sugar back.
