If working in a healh care clinic in the downtown core of a city, and knowing that other service providers in town don't see clients under the influence, would it not be okay to not see clients drunk, etc.

Because usually when people who mis-use substances is to forget their pain or hurt, so would it not be counter productive to see the clients when under the influence - not being to look back clearly and c the issue dealing with and finding the solutions

Plus when coming into the clinic their belligrent towards the staff, threatening staff, swearing at staff, sleeping in the waiting area, getting mad when not seen right away as they want to - the staff not dropping what there doing right away when seeing other clients on appointments, etc

It boils down to the safety of the staff and also the other clientele(ie.families) accessing the health clinic. would you really want to go to a clinic if the only people you see were either drunk or high in the building or around the premis

Say what???

Are you refusing to see clients that are under the influence? Or are you asking if I would? I wouldn't want them near me or my family.

But if I were a drug counselor then I guess I would have to see them.
