Most people that say they don't like it usually don't even listen to it. Not to mention that alot of country singers are acknowledged on other music charts. How many love country music? And if you don't like it WHY?

Well, absolutely nothing is wrong with it, in my book. You're absolutely right that most people that say they don't like it have never listened to it. Boloney - you listen to it all of the time - unless you are listening to Beethoven.

In fact, Rock, Punk, Alternative, Electronica, Pop, Rap, and most of today's music would not have begun without Country having been in existance. Just where do you think Rock came from? The Beatles stated that they were influenced by Elvis Presley - THEN a Country-Western singer. Kid Rock stated uniquivically that Country music has inspired him to rap. How many of you heard of Johnny Cash and NEVER listened to his music - I DARE you to say you never heard of him!

What is a Country song all about, anyway? Take the music away. listen to the words, not much different than other genres.
Subjects range from Love, Sex, Marriage, Failed Relationships, People, Cars, Trucks, School, Beach, Protest Songs, The Neighborhood, Patriotic Songs, Happy, Angry, Sad, Mom & Dad, Kids, Men, Women, Home, etc..

Sound familiar, especially that country has evolved into the mainstream?

I see others agree with me. It's almost 'pop' music anymore, not real country. Allison Kraus & Union Station... there's a good band.
I grew up listening to country. Not by choice, it's what my parents listened to, ya know? Then I fell into rock and hippie music as a teenager.
I still listen to country, but when I do, it's Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Hank Jr..... that kind of stuff.
OR, gimmie some old bluegrass. Now THAT's Old School country music!
Like the old country song goes... "I was country when country wasn't cool".

u r absolutely right if people knew how much country thry are listening to on the rock and roll stations, they would b amazed. coutry is nothing like it was 20 yrs ago,in fact it has change so much even in the last 10 years. if everyone listened for 1 hr. a day, they would find at least 1 song they could relate to and then they'd know that country music is just songs about me.

Nothings wrong with it, There are many great artists in country music today. Many of them, like you said have crossed over into the mainstream. I think that some time ago, there was a stigma about those who chose to listen to it, that perhaps they were considered to be "rednecks" and what not. I personally enjoy listening to country and many other genres of music.

People associate it with hillbillies, hicks, lack of education. They're not really listening to the music. Or associate it with some of the silly lyrics and assume it's all the same.

I like country music. I like many different genres of music.
