The current MVP of the NBA is Steve Nash a white Canadian. Oh yea he won last year also. If you watched the World Games this past summer you would know that there are great players from around the globe.

I think it is because it is very easy and inexpencive to practice when they are young as opposed to other american sports like football, hockey. Baseball is sometimes difficult because you need a lot of people to play. All you need is a ball and a hoop which are in just about every park in the US.
That is why soccer is very popular around the world due to the fact that all you need is a ball and a goal of some sorts.

i think the hot climate there genes come from has a lot to do with it
also if you go into a black neighborhood and play they will be taking it serious - a whole lot of black kids look at basketball as a ticket out of poverty(much like the European white players are doing today)
go to white neighborhoods and the kids arent taking it quite that seriously

it's easy to practice, make a pick-up game. Inner city is pavement, easy to play basketball. The two people ahead of me have really good answers to this question.

many black people grow up playing street ball..and many blacks are naturally fast which gives them an advantage over most whites because its a known fact that many whites are slower than blacks. i am certainly not racist either BUT....a science teacher of mine once hypothisized that it is bc of their heritage with slavery and all...as in the weak were done away with and only the stong physical specimens were kept as slaves...therefore their gene pool was syphoned to physically elite....ONE AGAIN these r someone elses words...ANnnnndd im not racist at all
