That's a good question.
Face-off was a little different, in that the character John Travolta played intentionally had surgery done to take the face of Nicholas Cage to infiltrate the organization. There was a choice there. Just like James Whitmore playing the white guy in "Black Like Me" where he undergoes cosmetics to look black (i.e., like Michael Jackson to look white) and has to live amongst the "colored people" as they were called back then; experience the hatred they faced each day by people of his own race.
I wish I knew the movie you are referring to because I do recall something like that happening.
I do not hate other people but I despise bad drivers as they clog the freeways and make it a long commute home which should normally take 15 minutes. So using that, I would not want to wake up one morning and find that my excellent driving habits had diminished and that on the freeway, I would be a serious nuisance, causing mishaps along the way.
If I did hate someone - for the sake of argument, because of the color of their skin and woke up and found myself being just that person....it would be awful. Because then, I would become that of which is "hated." I would probably do everything I could to change that appearance for fear of the humility I would suffer at the hands of those who disliked me just for the color of my skin.

I think that more and more we do, do exactly that. I think we have hate in our heart for others because it seems so un-natural to hate ourselves deep down inside.
I think it would be a great lesson for us to walk in each other shoes if even for just one day to see that the grass isn't always greener. And the people we resent and hate most in our lives have pain too, we should pity them, not hate them.

The movie "Face Off" had a similar theme. There is only one person I hate for a very good reason and if I woke up and looked like her, I would get plastic surgery. If I woke up and actually WAS her, I would kill myself, because I wouldn't deserve to live.

some people are hated for reason, but to hate a whole group is a bit absurd.
