I mean victimless crime vs crimes with victims. Victimless crime is an oxymoron.

What is crime? Who decides what act is criminal. You have to have some basis for determining what is crime. Murdering is morally wrong, but if we do, as you suggest stop legislating morality, then why not make murder legal. Why not make it legal for a grown man to have sex with a little boy? There is a national organization known as NAMBLA that would have us do this. Where do you draw the line? There is no real way to stop "legislating morality." Certain acts are morally and therefore legally wrong.

Heck, that sure wouldn't jive with our modern view of democracy now, would it?

You're talking like someone who believes in the Constitution and the honorable ideals of our founding fathers.

What next? Uncensored free speech? You sound like some of those yahoo's who perpetuate the notion that Americans can think for themselves.

Gosh darn it, don't you know that only Rush and G W Bush can lead us into the promised land? Okay, the promises may have not been made to benefit me or my family per say, but, I got faith that my great-great grandchildren will be thankful I agreed to stay the course.

Or...maybe not...

Impeding free trade? Maybe some of the trade embargoes ARE for our protection. Since we are involved in world trade where many nation's trade policies are backed financially by their governments, it is not illegal to have SOME corporate welfare.
I agree that we could do away with legislation enacted to protect ourselves from ourselves.

Then stealing, murder, rape, etc would become legal. That really sounds like a Utopia.

That sounds suspiciously like a democracy.
