Massachusetts has a ballot referendum in this week's elections proposing the additional licensing of supermarkets and grocery stores, in general, to sell wine, but not beer or spirits. I know of at least a couple of other States in the USA that license supermarkets to sell beer, but not wine, but is there at present any other American state that off-licenses supermarkets and groceries (in general) to sell wine but not beer?

Re: Chainsaw. No! CT is one of the two States I know (NY is the 2nd) that allows groceries and supermarkets to sell beer but not wine.

Re: Sooty Cat. I remember from my trips to FL that markets and groceries sold both beer and wine, but only liquor stores could sell those and spirits, too (and bars could sell off-license 6-packs). As for CA, please see

I dunno, in CA we can buy beer, wine, or hard liquor in our grocery stores.....I don't understand why the other states don't move out of the dark ages.

From what I know CT is also that way. We have the Blue Laws, no liquor sold on Sundays or after 8 pm

Florida.
But in California where it is grown and made you have to buy it at a package store or at the Winery where it is made.
