Okay, I went into the hospital this morning with contractions strong enough to be pretty darn painful. (me freaking out because I'm barely 37 weeks probably did not help) They put me on the moniter and found a regular pattern. After a while, they had me do laps around the hospital and then checked me again... (I started at one cm dilated) I was at two, so they kept me for a while longer and then had me walk some more. About an hour later there had been no change so they sent me home. Since then I've taken a great nap and the actual contractions have mostly gone away, though I still have what feels like bad menstrual cramps and back pain.... They said they might see me later on tonight but how high are my chances of going into active labor soon? Has this happened to anyone. Plus, when is this pain going to stop and how can I speed up the process. Thanks in advance

I was 3 cm dilated when my sac ruptured at 37 wks with no contractions on my first child and I had her the next night (about 30 hours later). I'm thinking this is your first child so you might go tonite or tomorrow. Like the others said, walking is the best thing for you right now. Sex does speed things up, but I don't know how you or your doctor feel about that. The pain is not going to stop until Baby comes but when it's all over and you see your beautiful baby, you'll know the pain was worth it.

Well congratulations in advance, and I wish you a fast and safe delivery with of course a precious newborn in your arms. Ok, well I'm thinking you may have anywhere from tonight to 3 days. Menstrual cramp feeling and back pains are normal but not strong enough to really do anything. Basically not strong enough to get you dilated more than 2. So what I would do since this sounds like your first pregnancy is walk!!! Also try drinking hot red raspberry tea that can cause you to start contracting. I'm sure they told you not to take a bath because you are dilated and you don't want an infection. Also if your water breaks you only have 24 hours to deliver your baby so keep that in mind. In the mean time get some rest ok, it is so important you do that to keep your strength for delivery. Oh and one more thing be open to getting an epidural, I didn't with my first but did with my 2nd and let me tell you what a difference!! Good luck honey!!

You never know. It depends on how quickly your body wants to progress. I have been 4cm dilated and 80% effaced since Thursday and Friday lost my mucous plug. I went in and was 2 cm and 50% starting at 33.5 weeks. I have also been having menstrual like cramps and back pain. My Dr. told me that the baby will come when she's ready and that when I'm in real labor I'll know it. I totally understand your anticipation! Good luck and I hope you get to meet your baby soon!

Well let me tell u something I have 3 kids and another on the way and the same thing happened to me with my 2 last ones actually I went up to 3 cm and I was 36 wks but unless u brake your water there is nothing to worry about and if u get closer to your due date and you want to speed up the process just make a strong and hot ginger tea and you'll be having your baby soon but don't do it unless your water broke or if you are really close to your due date and are having contractions. Trust me it doesn't warm the baby at all and it helps your contractions get stronger and closer.

The baby will come when it decides to, I hope things go smoothley. All my kids were born at less than 37 weeks and all five of them are healthy, including twin girls. Try to relax and don't stress. As far as the pain management goes, I took a medicine that is safe for babyies and I forgot what it was called, but just hang in there and let mother nature and father time take their course. GOOD LUCK, and congrats on the bundle of joy!

Best thing to do is rest up a little and then walk as much as you can. Also sex speeds up some of the process for some women but you need the sperm present to soften the cervix if you know what i mean. Good Luck shouldn't be too much longer now

You will know a real contraction when it happens. Your tummy will stretch and push out during a contraction. Your water may also break. Try to relax and not worry because this is all happening just three weeks early. You could go another week like this and the first baby is usually two weeks early or two weeks late. Sounds to me like you will be early. Congrats baby and know this will all be over and done real soon. God bless you and your family.
