I'm 9 weeks pregnant and just realized my toothpaste and mouthwash both have a small percentage of alcohol in them. If I swallowed a bit while brushing or using the mouthwash, would it pose a problem for the baby? I'm 9 weeks pregnant.

Yes, it will be just fine sweety! Just be sure not to swallow any....and if you do happen to swallow some, it will still be just fine, with the tiny amount of it that you use, it wouldnt cause damage. No worries!!!! If you still feel paranoid about it, buy alcohol free mouthwash, and buy a childrens type of toothpaste! Hope i could help!

Yes do not drink it, spit it out. Do not swallow the mouthwash or toothpaste, I hope you have not done that ever to begin with. I've not ever checked the directions, but ever since I remember, after I brush my teeth and use mouthwash I've always rinsed it all out.
God bless us all...

There a lot of reason why people use mouth rinse. Mainly is bcause of the bad breath. No doubt most products of the shelves contained alcohol in it but there's company that manufacture and product a natural based ingredients for mouth wash. The one i'm using is non-alcohol based and comes in refill order. So, look at the purpose of the mouth wash. different people will have different needs. Thanks for allowing me to share. I don't think it will make any harm. At that point your baby is not at risk, that is only if you drink a lot of alcohol. And even, I was 2 months pregnant, when I was taking tequila shots, of course I didin't know that I was pregnant. After I knew I stop taking any alcohol. And my baby was perfectly fine and healthy

yes you can use it... the reason why every pregnant women is told not to drink is b/c the baby can have some disorders or later on on their life can become an alcoholic.... but tooth past and mouthwash is not any harm to you or the baby.....

Calm down, and breathe.....

You can rest assured that the amount of alcohol contained in mouth wash or toothpaste is not enough to harm your unborn baby.

I wish you the best of luck with your pregnancy,

I'm sure it's ok if you don't swallow any of it. Just don't chug a bottle of Listerine, that might be dangerous. In fact, I have never heard of complications caused by brushing your teeth or gargeling, so... Oh yeah...Congratulations on the baby

well, i'd try to avoid those kind of products. If its a small amount, i wouldnt say dont, because nobody wants bad breath. just try not to swallow. if you did, consult your doctor. good luck with your baby!
