To sum it up, they are unethical, narrow-minded, self-righteous idiots.
Birth controls pills have to have a prescription from a gynecologist. No getting around that. Sometimes women are put on the pill for a variety of reasons, whether its heavy cramping, spotting, irregular periods, etc. So some guy that thinks he has a direct hotline to God thinks that he can say "no, I know what's better for you than your gynecologist and primary care doctor, so I refuse to give you this medicine." Pharmacists that do this should have their license pulled and not be allowed to practice anymore.

Religious justifications. Wal-Mart tries to pull that crap all of the time. They believe that preventing pregnancy is going against God's plan.
Well, then, shouldn't they stop prescribing antibiotics and the like? After all, they cure people from diseases that God gave them. Shouldn't those people have to die/suffer like they would have before antibiotics were invented?
I don't mind religious beliefs, I don't mind them refusing to fill birth control prescriptions (as hypocritical as I think it is), but what I do think is awful, is that some of these pharmacists will keep the prescriptions (especially for plan b) so that the woman can't take it elsewhere and has to get another copy from her doctor -- which in the case of plan b may be too late.

Some pharmacists are using the argument that they are more than just a stock-clerk.
I think it's BS. If you have a prescription, the pharmacist should be required to fill it. It's just the government's way of trying to control women's bodies. Funny - these same people are so dead set against abortion, that you think theyd want to give the pill out to help prevent the pregnancy in the first place!

In simple terms, Instead of performing the job they chose , they are taking their own personal views on abortion/religion etc and basically forcing their belief's onto other's. while I am pro-life I also would rather someone used birth control rather then get an abortion because they didn't. None the less if a pharmacist refuses to dispense a legally prescribed medication due to their own views it is for one illegal, unethical and it should be reported to the company and your state health dept.
Whats next? A feminist pharmacist refusing to dispense viagra?

Because regular BC pills do not always prevent ovulation (60% of women who have abortions were on the Pill when they got pregnant), so both the regular pill and the EC pill change the lining of the uterus so that a newly conceived individual cannot implant into the lining of the uterus. Thus, the new baby dies, so in effect these pills have just caused a very early abortion. This is why conscientious pharmacists refuse to prescribe BC pills. Not to mention the fact that they'd be helping young women to be promiscuous, which is unthinkable for a Christian. A Christian, by definition, cannot separate his beliefs from his actions. To do so would be hypocritical. If she wants someone to fill her prescription, she should go to an atheist pharmacist, or one who has no moral reservations. But the state should not control the conscience of pharmacists. It's none of their business.

Birth control pills aren't just aspirin. They consist of hormones, and as we know hormones affect you in many ways, starting from hair growth, weight, water retention, and continuing with mood and libido variations. A certain type of birth control pill might be too strong for you, and its side effects may cause severe physiological and psychological damage.
When deciding to go on the pill, it's imperious that you consult an endocrinologist, who will run some tests to see which type of pill is best for your body, or your problems (remember that birth control pills also help issues like weight, acne, spinal problems, excessive hair etc.).
If you do decide to start taking pills, please consult your endocrinologist or your gynecologist, and ask him to run a test so that you get the most appropriate medication.

I had never heard that one. Is the pharmacy connected to a hospital with Catholic tie's? It is not that I agree but my family was kicked out of the church when my dad was clipped as they do not believe in birth control. My mom had 7 kids and almost died and the Dr. said no more

Because they think it's morally wrong.
Don't jump on them for having beliefs. We don't jump on you for it.
To all the people saying it's better than abortion:
Birth Control CAUSES abortions. It does it before you realize you're pregnant, usually in the first day or two. I think if you're mature enough to have sex than you should be mature enough to raise the resulting children, or at least put them up for adoption...
