It depends on what class you were. Many people were affected because twenty-five percent of the workforce was unemployed. So, if your father or someone was in a blue-collar factory job, then of course your family would suffer. If you are wealthy, then life would probably either a) go down completely (if you had some major stock investments) or b) it would be all right, because your family lives off old-money. If you are a minority, then life would just get harder. Many blacks were poor, and got poorer as the decade went on without any gov help. Same with migrant working Mexicans and immigrants.

My gram would say that you have to live on less, never quite having enough to go round. She would also say that money was very hard to come by, the reason for less to live on, and never quite having enough.
Still others had it a bit better. Both other grandparents managed to have work, bought properties on distress sale, and wound up with quite a nice income that lasted for decades. Gave property to son and daughter, left a bit to grandchildren, etc.
It depended on luck, on how much one had going into it, and how creative one was. They ate meat only on Sundays, walked everywhere, and compared to most of us today had nothing. Some still heated with wood, had no electricity, and even with electricity had no wireless.
People did without, all the way round, unless really well off.

During the great depression, food was very scarce, money was almost zilch, There was no entertainment like movies. There was no buying clothing. Children ran around with no shoes or holes in their shoes. They later came out with food tickets that you could go and get certain foods. It was a very bad time for people. Work was even scarce. Good Luck.

No.. The depression comes with low marks. Seriously. Plan first. a spider diagram may help.. All essays should have an intro, the main points and a final conclusion. Hunger, family responsibilities, sense of futility and unfairness.

As the saying goes buddy can you spare a dime. If you lived during the great depression you would see lots of people out of work and long lines waiting to get a job. You would see many federal projects such as many roads, schools and bridges being built just to get people working and feeling better about themselves.

Well, I can tell you that Northeast Texas is the ONLY part of this country not affected by the Depression. This is because of the oil boom that started here. It did hit here eventually, but not as hard as elsewhere.

pretend you are living in the great depression...
now, if you were living in the time of the great depression, then you don't have the internet, so get busy doing your homework and be glad you aren't stuck in the depression and be glad you live in a time when your parents can afford to feed you, clothe you and get you to school.
