My good friend and I get into fairly large fights every few weeks or so... As in, we won't speak to each other (or if I try to talk about it she refuses to talk to me), and our other friends (we share several friends) end up splitting up so that neither her nor I am alone during the fights. The fights usually last for about a week and a half... Last night another was started and I'm getting a little tired of our on and off friendship. The fights are always over something petty, but we both end up worked up about it. I love spending time with her otherwise , but this is just getting annoying... Any thoughts?

Given the amount you enjoy spending time with her when you aren't fighting, I would recommend one last stopgap measure before you ditch her completely.

Fights are rarely truly about the subject matter "supposedly" being fought about. Usually there is some issue under the surface that is the true subject of the fight.

See if you two can put your heads together and find out what it is. Are there things you both are jealous of in the other? Are there other issues that you aren't confronting but are sublimating into these fights?

See if you can find what you are "really" fighting about, and if you can resolve the issue calmly and pick up where you left off!

Well do you consider her a true friend? Will she be there for you in the end? Do you see yourself friends with her in 10 years from now? Will she have your back no matter what? Will she accept you no matter what? If you cant answer yes to these questions then you need to dump her, she could just be more problems then fun or true. Friends do fight but you are right it does get to a point when you have to say enough is enough. Good luck hun.

this isn´t a true friendship. This isn´t a good friend. Ur guys´ fights are causing your friends to have to suffer and split to make sure u two are alright. U need to maybe sit ur friend down and talk to her about this and tell her that the friendship was nice, but it is causing too much pain and u´d love to keep eachother on the shelf, but the chemistry just isn´t working out.

If you guys are fighting a lot, it isn't worth it to be friends. You will have much less stress and drama in your life if you guys decide to end the friendship... Its hard to do, but once she has been out of your life for about a week, you will start to notice how much better things are! Fighting isn't fun...so surround yourself with people you get along great with!! Life is too short to have crappy friends!

i don't think you two have a real friendship at all, so don't worry about not seeing her/him anymore than necessary because there is nothing to lose anywy just somebody who give you aggravations and agitations, go hang out with other friends of your in your circle and just treat her/him as an acquaintance.

Why are the fights coming out? Maybe you should stop it and refuse to be drawn into it
