Using -A/B the slope of the given line is -1/2.
Using point-slope,
y-5 = (-1/2)(x+6)
y-5 = (-1/2)x - 3
y = (-1/2)x + 2

x+2y=6 can be rewritten as:
y = (-1/2)x+3.
Its slope is -1/2. All parallel lines have the same slope.
Slope-intercept form is y = mx+b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.
so we have y = (-1/2)x+b. When x = -6, y = 5 so we have
5 = (-1/2)(-6)+b
or
5 = 3+b or b = 2.
Therefore the line you are looking for is y = (-1/2)x+2.

If it is parallel, it has the same slope, and since the slope of the equation is 1, then the slope of the new line is 1

first u wanna change that general form eqation form to slopintercept form.
x+2y=6
-x -x
---------------------
2y=6-x
/2 /2
----------------------
y=3- .5x
