Just wondering. I feed him frozen veggies, but wondering if I can feed him canned as well. I didn't know if canned veggies are too high in iron? Thanks for your answers in advance moms!

Ok, thanks!! I'm glad I asked. I will be sticking with frozen for now. I would like to feed more fresh, but recently there seems to be a lot of incidents of disease associated with produce (the spinach problem, carrot juice, and now something with Listeria that hasn't been pinpointed). I always wash my fruits and veggies, but now am scared to take the chance.

I have fed my girls canned veggies at that age. As far as the sodium content yes it's high but one thing you can do is rinse them well with water before serving. It's much esier though to give them fresh veggies, jsut steam them a bit to make them softer.

Personally, I would stick with the frozen veggies just because its preference. However, probably talk with your pediatrician on the next visit and see what he/she advices. My youngest is almost 5 but it seems that they change what is good and bad for kids every year. Its hard to keep up.

Stick with frozen. The canned and fresh lose their nutritional value by the second when they are on the shelf, the frozen ones don't.

All canned items are high in sodium and loaded up with preservatives. I would stick with fresh vegetables.

canned food are never good, its better to feed your baby and yourself with as much natural food as possible, canned food have perservatives and they are bad for everyones health, so preferibly feed him natural vegtebals, you just have to boil them in water (really it isnt hard to boil something, just water a bit a salt and fire then pour the veggies in for a few minutes) and mash the veggies, your baby will be healthier.

Canned vegetables usually have added salt. I'd avoid them.
You can give him fresh cooked, which are best, but frozen are okay too.

I fed both my kids canned vegetables from time to time. Mine really like the mixed vegetables, my Doctor told me that it was fine to do this. My kids are very healthy
